Postcoder admin area gets 2FA security
Postcoder gives customers an extra layer of protection when signing in to the admin area.
Keeping customer accounts secure has always been a priority for the Postcoder team. That's why we've introduced optional two-factor authentication (2FA) for the Postcoder admin area, giving customers an extra layer of protection when signing in.
The new feature allows users to verify their identity using an authenticator app or compatible password manager alongside their password. Even if login credentials become compromised, 2FA helps prevent unauthorised access to an account.
We know stronger account security is important to our customers, with 2FA support being one of the most regularly requested security enhancements from customers in recent months.
What is two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication adds a second verification step during login. After entering a username and password, users are prompted to enter a time-sensitive security code generated by an authentication app or password manager on their device.
This means access to an account requires both something the user knows (their password) and something they have (their mobile device or authentication app).
Supported authentication apps and password managers
Postcoder supports all authentication apps and compatible password managers such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, 1Password and Bitwarden.
Setup only takes a few moments and can be enabled directly from within the Postcoder admin area.
Once configured, users will be asked to enter a verification code each time they log in.
Why we've introduced 2FA
With over 10,000 businesses now relying on Postcoder in their day-to-day operations, strengthening account security has become increasingly important. Two-factor authentication provides an additional safeguard against risks such as:
- Password reuse
- Credential stuffing attacks
- Phishing attempts
- Unauthorised account access
While strong passwords remain important, 2FA significantly reduces the chances of an account being compromised.
Built with future expansion in mind
The initial release focuses on support for authenticator apps and password managers, providing a simple and widely adopted approach to account security.
However, the feature has been designed with flexibility in mind and may be extended in future to support additional verification methods and authentication workflows. Getting started
Two-factor authentication is available now for all Postcoder customers through the admin area.
To enable it, simply log in to your Postcoder account and go to your User profile.
