Postcoder gets monthly Eircode updates

New and updated Eircode addresses are now added to Postcoder every month, helping businesses access accurate address data sooner.

Since Ireland’s Eircode system launched in 2015, we’ve incorporated its official address data into Postcoder. That data is now released monthly, making new and updated addresses available more quickly.

What is Eircode?

Eircode is the Republic of Ireland’s postcode system. Unlike postcodes in many other countries, which identify a group of addresses, each Eircode is unique to a single residential or business address and its geographic location.

An Eircode contains seven letters and numbers. The first three characters form a Routing Key, identifying the postal area, while the final four form a unique identifier for the individual address.

Since its launch, Eircode has made it easier for businesses and public services to distinguish between similar addresses and pinpoint the correct location.

More frequent updates

Eircode previously distributed address data updates every quarter. This meant newly assigned Eircodes and changes to existing address records could take several months to reach licensed solutions providers like us.

Eircode now releases updates every month. Each release includes new addresses and changes to existing address records, allowing the latest information to flow through to Postcoder as soon as it's available.
